I have enabled the “Allows item submission” option with the “Allows submission by anonymous user” option disabled in a collection. I have created a record submission page for this collection and a user role that has only the “Edit items” and “Publish items” options enabled on that collection. When I log in with that user and open the collection in the backend, there is no option to create a new item. When I try to add a new item in the submission page I get the message “It seems that you are not allowed to access this content”. What options do I need to activate so that this user role can only submit records?
I tried to reproduce this steps:
- Created a user role that only has capability to “Edit items” and “Publish items” in Collection X;
- Enabled item submission on Collection X, set default submission status to draft;
- Published a page where the Item Submission block was set for that collection;
- Created a user with the new role;
- With the user logged in, was able to sent a simple test item with an empty document and tile, via both Submission page and Tainacan admin.
So this should be enough… There must be something else going on. Could you please try installing this plugin: User Role Editor – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org and then:
- Access the User role Editor, under the Users submenu in the admin page;
- Select the role that you created previously;
- Filter the capabilities list to check which capabilities are enabled;
- Hit the update/save options button once at least;
- Log in again and try to reproduce the steps?
Let us know how this goes.
Dear Mateus:
I have followed your instructions to no avail. I know that I am missing some configuration. I attach screens photos in case you con pinpoint my mistake. Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Pedro
Dear Mateus:
Some how, I managed to solve the problem. I do not know what the problem was, because I did several changes, including deleting Tainacan and resinstalling it. It is possible that the problem was that I put the submitting form in a post, instead of a page.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Pedro
Hi @argeifontesfunes !
I’m glad you could solve it! From the perspective of the screenshots that you sent, the only suspicious thing was the capabilities list in the plugin page, which was showing only edit_posts
and publish_posts
, while it should also have the same related to your collection post type. For example, if your collection ID was 123, it should also have edit_tnc_col_123_items
and publish_tnc_col_123_items
. But if reinstalling things solved maybe it was a cache thing…
Thank you, Mateus for your help. I have another topic open related to pdf-viewer. I thought I coud solve it by correcting ImageMagick configuration, but it did not work.
Best regards,
Pedro
