Hello from Australia! Big thank you to everyone who has been involved in the development of this great tool. I was wondering if there has been any update on how to adult the pagination item number default for collection listings in blocksy? I’ve been trying but failing up to this point.
Hi @Beau_Newham, welcome to our forum!
It is really nice to hear from users from Australia! We’re glad Tainacan is being useful for you.
So, let me see if I can help you. There are a number of places where pagination components are rendered in Tainacan admin, Tainacan components and theme templates like Blocksy. Just to clarify, when you say Collection Listings, are you referring to the public Collection archive in your theme (the page in `/collections`)? Can you send me a link o screenshot? Because depending of where it is the setting will be stored in a different place.
Hey @mateus.m.luna
Yes, it has been a lifesaver - we have been slowly moving from a database we had set up in notion over to tainacan.
We have an live draft version of the site as we set it up which you can see a collection page here - Materials – NAPWHA Archive
For this page I can’t seem to find anything in the customiser or in the tainacan settings that adjust the pagination default in the blocksy theme (it shows quite clearly in other themes).
Many thanks
Hi @Beau_Newham!
Usually the Collection Items list should be in the link that you shared, but yours is actually here: https://memory.napwha.org.au/archives/materials/. This is common when comming from a fresh install, could you please visit your WordPress Admin → Settings → Permalinks, check if it is in “Post name” and save the settings? Once that is done, you shall fin the same page being rendered in https://memory.napwha.org.au/materials/.
So about the default per-page setting… sadly we don’t have an option for that yet. And it is not even due to Blocksy, since the component is rendered by Tainacan. I’m opening an issue so we can take a look at it as soon as we can:
Ah yes, good catch. I was playing around in settings I shouldn’t have. Speaking of, is there anyway for the slugs made by Tainacan to not be the full title of objects? Sometimes it leads to some wild address lengths. I’ve returned our site to the original post url make up.
Amd good to know re: the default number options. I did a work around of just doing individual pages with a Tainacan Faceted Search but I couldn’t find a way to then have filter options for users:
Please see AIDS Quilts & Memorials – NAPWHA Archive
(I have it set to hide the filter bar by default at the moment as they are always empty).
Thanks for all of your assistance. It has been a powerful tool so far.
Uhm, I don’t think so that is the sort of behavior that we inherit from the way WordPress defines its pages. But once the slug is first generated from the title you can edit it. In Taxonomy and Collection forms, that option is explicitly close to the title. In the item editing form it is hidden, you must first enable it in the Collection editing form in the section related to Item editing form options.
That is a valid workaround by now. You may also be interested on defining that page as the “Collection cover” in the Collection editing form. This way links to the collection will first lead to there instead of the default archive.
Thank you - will slowly go through it. We have over 1000 listings at the moment so a bit of a slog to do them manually.
Good to know I’ll set that now. With a faceted search block aimed at a taxonomical term is there a way to set filters for that block or should I just keep the filters turned off? That seems to be the main thing being lost in my work around.
Are you asking about which filters appear in the Faceted Search Block if you’re listing to Taxonomy Term Items? In that case, those will be:
- The repository-level filters, if you define any;
- The collection-level filters that you explicitly defined to “Display in repository level list” in their settings form. And also if there is any value for that filter in the current context;
That is due to the nature of Taxonomy, as they may be used across different collections.
Incredible. Thanks for your assistance. Honestly has been suprisingly mainless to move from our previous set up (a notion database that can be found here). Will be sharing our experiences with some other community and government based projects here in Australia.
Also due to the upcoming AIDS conference in Rio I will be in Brazil later this year. Is there a way to contact the team? Would be great to try to meet up.
Nice project! I’m always amazed by how much people can do with tools like Notion. We hope you find other use cases, don’t hesitate to bring them here. Once you consider ready for publishing you can also submit it to our Showcase page.
I would love to go Rio but I live in Goiânia and my travel budget its certainly done by this year
. Most of our Team nowadays lives in Brasilia.
